Europe has the fewest stock market newcomers since 2009. Innovative companies are being dragged away by Wall Street

European stock markets are facing an extraordinary lack of interest from new companies this year. Only 34 initial public offerings, or IPOs, took place on the continent in the first six months, the fewest since the financial crisis in 2009. Stock market newcomers sold 2.4 billion euros worth of securities to investors in the first half, the lowest amount in 14 years and compared to last year year is a decrease of 42 percent, even though 2022 was not rich in IPOs either.
