Startups pay. According to the survey, nine out of ten investors evaluated their investment in young companies

CzechCrunch (cc.cz)17 April 2023

Investors in the Czech Republic generally praise last year - it was said to be a better average. They believe in artificial intelligence, fintech and healthtech the most. While it is said that nine out of ten startups will die, angel investing in the Czech Republic reports the exact opposite ratio - almost nine out of ten investors were able to evaluate the money they sent. Roughly one in eight even earned more than ten times, and among them there were also those who took home more than a hundred times of the invested money. This results from a survey that maps the environment of angel investing in the Czech Republic. Roughly 40 percent of investors have already made a so-called exit, i.e. sale, of some of their investments, compared to last year, their number has increased. Most often, in roughly half of the cases, the investment was valued one to five times. There are an average of eight investments in startups per investor, and each of them added an average of 2.6 investments last year. This follows from a survey organized by the investment group Depo Ventures, in which the Havel & Partners law office and the CzechInvest agency participated. CzechCrunch is the main media partner of the survey.

Every year, well-known faces of business pass the imaginary scepter to the top of the list of the richest Czechs and Slovaks. This year, after long years of dominance by the Kellner family, Daniel Křetínský took over. But this does not mean that there is no place for newcomers in the ranking. The founders of the FTMO company – Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček – were newly added to the list compiled by the e15 editors. The property value of each of them reaches 9.7 billion crowns.
